Euthymol Whitening Toothpaste: Does It Really Whiten?
Euthymol whitening toothpaste is a fluoride paste from LG Household & Health Care, sold in the US as a pink tube that lifts surface stains and a purple tube that tints teeth to look less yellow. Neither lists peroxide, so neither bleaches your teeth.

The pink tube is built to remove surface stain, and Euthymol’s own timeline runs from one to two weeks. The purple tube changes how teeth look right after brushing, and Euthymol publishes no figure for how long that lasts.
Enamelly did not test these tubes. Everything below comes from the FDA drug labels on DailyMed, the Amazon and LG Beauty listings and published studies, all read on 10 October 2026. Which Euthymol whitening toothpaste is which?
Three Euthymol tubes sell in the US. The Amazon titles read “EUTHYMOL Whitening Toothpaste, Stain Removal in 2 Weeks” (pink), “EUTHYMOL Purple Whitening Toothpaste, Instant Brightening” (purple) and “EUTHYMOL Original Pink Toothpaste, Fluoride-Free” (the old formula).
The purple tube is filed on DailyMed as Euthymol Whitening Purple Corrector, the phrase many shoppers type. The Original is a separate product with no whitening claim, and our guide to the original pink Euthymol formula covers it.
The pink whitening paste and the Original are both pink, which invites mix-ups. Look for the word Whitening and a fluoride panel on the box.
Does Euthymol whitening toothpaste actually whiten teeth?
The pink tube whitens by removing stain from the tooth surface. LG Beauty’s product page names sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP) and hydrated silica as its stain-fighting ingredients.
SHMP has clinical data behind it. Two two-week trials of an SHMP and sodium fluoride whitening paste, with 22 and 30 adults, found stain scores dropped significantly after one and after two weeks (American Journal of Dentistry, 2007).
A 2024 lab study in the International Dental Journal found an SHMP paste cleared coffee stain from bovine enamel about 10 percent better than peroxide and baking soda pastes. Neither study tested Euthymol itself.
Euthymol’s own timeline varies by page. The Amazon bullets promise results from day 3 and big improvement by day 5, LG Beauty says visibly whiter teeth in 1 week “based on a clinical study”, and the Amazon title says 2 weeks. We could not find that study published.
A stain-removal paste works on extrinsic stain such as coffee and tea, not on the natural shade of the tooth. Our guide to whitening teeth without peroxide compares the other routes, and this page asks whether whitening toothpaste works at all.
How Euthymol purple toothpaste works and how long the color lasts
Purple sits opposite yellow on the color wheel, so a thin violet film makes yellow teeth read as less yellow. On the purple tube’s ingredient panel, the colorants are FD&C Blue 1 Lake and Red 33.
A 2025 randomised trial in the International Dental Journal tested the same principle with blue covarine pastes. Of 66 adults randomised, 61 finished, and the blue covarine pastes cut tooth yellowness right after a single brushing. The paper cites a whiteness shift above 1.99 units as the level the human eye can see.
That study measured color straight after brushing and did not test how long the shift lasts. Nobody has published a duration for Euthymol’s tint. The “24H Stain Defense” on the box refers to protection against new stains, not to how long the color holds.
The dye sits on the surface, so expect it to fade as you eat and brush again. That is our inference from how surface pigments behave, not a measured figure.
The LG Beauty banner for the purple tube promises “up to 2.9X brighter teeth in a single use” and the page does not publish the method behind it. Amazon’s review summary shows the split: of 172 reviewers who mention whitening on the purple listing, 106 were positive and 66 were negative.
Violet offsets yellow, so by the same logic it should do little for gray or brown stains. Our explainer on what the purple color corrector does and does not do goes through those limits, and the purple whitening strips page covers the strip version of the same trick.
Euthymol whitening toothpaste review: what pink tube buyers report
The pink tube holds 4.2 stars across 3,342 Amazon ratings and 4.3 across 104 reviews on LG Beauty’s own store, where 60 of those reviews are five stars.
Amazon’s review summary on the same listing is blunt about the downsides. Of 334 reviewers who mention taste, 108 were negative, and one review calls the taste Pepto-Bismol but spicy.
Of 136 who mention sensitivity, 86 were negative, and some describe burning. Of 206 who mention ease of use, 181 were negative, almost all about a stiff aluminum tube that is hard to squeeze.
Sodium lauryl sulfate sits on the ingredient list of all three Euthymol tubes. If SLS irritates your mouth, none of them avoids it, and the DailyMed label says to stop using the product if an allergic reaction develops.
Does Euthymol whitening toothpaste have fluoride, and is it safe for enamel?
Yes, both whitening tubes contain fluoride. The DailyMed drug labels filed by LG Household & Health Care list sodium fluoride 0.243% (0.15% w/v fluoride ion) as the active ingredient for the Euthymol Whitening Set and for Euthymol Whitening Purple Corrector.
The Amazon listings muddy this. The pink listing’s bullet says 1,000 ppm fluoride while its Q&A says 1,100 ppm, and the purple listing’s spec table says “Fluoride Free” next to an ingredient panel that lists sodium fluoride. Trust the Drug Facts panel on your own tube.
The ingredient lists disagree too. The pink Amazon listing shows charcoal powder and mica and no thymol, while the FDA label’s list has thymol and eucalyptus leaf extract and no charcoal. Listings lag behind reformulations, so read the box in your hand.
Neither whitening tube lists peroxide. The cleaning abrasive is hydrated silica, and Euthymol publishes no abrasivity (RDA) number on the listings we read, so you cannot rank it for gentleness against pastes that do.
The label’s directions say to brush at least twice a day or as your dentist directs. If you have thin enamel or sensitive teeth, read our page on whether whitening toothpaste damages enamel first.
Euthymol whitening vs Euthymol Original vs a US alternative
The table sets the three Euthymol tubes beside Colgate Optic White Purple, the most common US shelf product doing the same color trick. Fluoride answers come from the listings’ own ingredient panels.
| Product | What it does | Fluoride | Whitening type | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Euthymol Whitening (pink) | Lifts surface stain with SHMP and hydrated silica | Yes, sodium fluoride 0.243% | Stain removal, gradual | Fluoride plus slow surface-stain removal |
| Euthymol Purple Whitening | Same base with a violet tint on top | Yes, sodium fluoride 0.243% | Optical tint plus stain removal | A same-day look-whiter with fluoride |
| Euthymol Original | Pink paste with a dicalcium phosphate cleaning base | No, listed as fluoride-free | None claimed | Fans of the flavor, not whitening |
| Colgate Optic White Purple | Purple-tinted anticavity paste | Yes, sodium fluoride 0.24% | Optical tint plus polishing | The tint from a mainstream brand |
The US Amazon listing for the Original shows dicalcium phosphate dihydrate and no thymol on its ingredient list. Formulas differ by market, so a UK tube and a US tube are not interchangeable on paper.
What to buy in the US if Euthymol is not for you
If the flavor or the tube puts you off, Colgate Optic White Purple lists sodium fluoride 0.24% and the same Blue 1 and Red 33 colorants. It is the closest like-for-like swap you can pick up from a mainstream brand.
If you want to drop fluoride, Boka’s nano-hydroxyapatite paste is fluoride-free, and its Amazon listing names teeth whitening among its recommended uses. It has no violet tint.
Our page on hydroxyapatite whitening toothpaste sets out what to expect from it. The comparison of nano-hydroxyapatite and fluoride covers the cavity side of that trade.
Hismile V34 is a serum, and its Amazon listing holds 3.5 stars across 73,366 ratings with no fluoride in the ingredient list. It adds a tint on top of your normal brushing. For a ranked list of everyday pastes, see our best whitening toothpaste roundup.
Where to buy Euthymol whitening toothpaste in the US
Euthymol is sold officially in the US. Amazon lists the pink, purple and Original tubes as sold by LG Household Official and shipped by Amazon, so the seller is an LG storefront, not an importing reseller. LG Beauty’s own store sells the pink whitening tube and the Original, and its purple page sends you to Amazon.
Target.com is a marketplace case. A page for the purple tube turned out to be a marketplace item shipped by a seller named SleekShop and showed out of stock on 10 October 2026, so it is not Target’s own shelf stock.
For Costco, price trackers show a Costco.com product page for a Euthymol Whitening Toothpaste Set. We could not load Costco’s own page, so confirm on costco.com or ask your warehouse before you drive there.
A US-market whitening tube carries a Drug Facts panel with sodium fluoride as the active ingredient, so check for that panel on any tube from a third-party seller.
Euthymol whitening toothpaste FAQ
Is Euthymol whitening toothpaste safe?
The DailyMed label gives standard fluoride toothpaste directions: brush at least twice a day, use a pea-sized amount for children under 6, and keep it out of reach of young children. Reviewers report burning and strong taste, and the label says to stop use if an allergic reaction develops. Ask your dentist if you have dental work or sensitive teeth.
Does Euthymol whitening toothpaste have fluoride?
Yes. The Whitening Set and the Purple Corrector both list sodium fluoride 0.243% (0.15% w/v fluoride ion) on their DailyMed labels. The Original does not contain fluoride, so check the word Whitening on the box.
Can you buy Euthymol whitening toothpaste in the US?
Yes. Amazon lists the tubes as sold by LG Household Official and shipped by Amazon, and LG Beauty sells the pink tube and the Original on its own store. Costco availability is unverified, and marketplace listings on other retail sites may not be the store’s own stock.
How long does the Euthymol purple effect last?
Euthymol does not publish a duration. The violet dye sits on the tooth surface, so expect it to fade as you eat and brush, which is an inference rather than a tested figure. The 24-hour claim on the box refers to stain defense, not to the tint.
What is the difference between Euthymol pink and purple whitening toothpaste?
Both list sodium fluoride, SHMP and hydrated silica, and the purple adds Blue 1 and Red 33 colorants. Pink removes surface stain over days. Purple gives an immediate look-whiter, and you can read the full breakdown in our purple toothpaste explainer.
