Invisalign cost: what the published price ranges actually say
Invisalign does not publish one price, but it does publish enough to frame the question. Its own cost page compares treatment to braces, for which it lists a range of 3,000 to 7,500 dollars without insurance, and shows real patient examples with doctor’s fees of 5,490 to 7,000 dollars before insurance. Those figures come from Invisalign’s site; every practice sets its own fee, so your quote can land outside them. This page is general information, not dental or financial advice.
The published figures, sourced
| Figure | Amount | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Braces range, no insurance | $3,000 to $7,500 | Invisalign.com, braces cost page |
| Example case: crowding, 2 years | $7,000 doctor’s fee | Invisalign.com patient example, Milana |
| Example case: crowding, 1 year | $5,600 doctor’s fee | Invisalign.com patient example |
| Example case: gaps and turned teeth | $5,490 doctor’s fee | Invisalign.com patient example, Diego |
| Insurance coverage cap | Up to $3,000 | Invisalign.com insurance page |
| Average insurance payout | $1,772 | Invisalign.com, cited claim data |
Read the pattern rather than the individual numbers: the more complex the case, the higher the fee, and treatment length moved with it. That is also why two people in the same city can quote 2,000 dollars apart for the same product.
What the fee usually contains, per Invisalign’s payment page, is the full aligner series, the doctor’s supervision, and retainers at the end. Ask any practice to confirm which of those are inside your quote, because a low fee that excludes final retainers is not the cheapest one.

Insurance and financing, per the same source
Invisalign’s insurance page states dental insurance may cover up to 3,000 dollars of orthodontic treatment, and its cited figures put the average payout at 1,772 dollars. The company also publishes monthly payment examples on its cost calculator, 58 dollars over 24 months in one shown case, which assumes financing on the post-insurance balance. Those are marketing examples from the manufacturer, not a quote anyone is obliged to give you.
What published ranges leave out
Published averages flatten everything a quote itemizes: refinements mid-treatment, whether a case needs attachments or interproximal reduction, and retainer replacement after the first set. If your case relapses and you need a second series, the first price was not the last one. Comparing clear aligners with fixed braces on total cost, including the follow-up years, is covered in our braces cost comparison, and caring for enamel during any orthodontic treatment is covered in the hydroxyapatite toothpaste for braces guide.
The best price comes from two or three in-person consultations, since most orthodontists quote free and the spread between them is real money. If you are mid-treatment and noticing white spots or sensitivity around attachments, the underlying process is explained in the enamel remineralization guide, and the ingredient doing that work in toothpaste is described in what hydroxyapatite actually is.
